Hands-On with the 43" Odyssey Neo G70NC UHD Gaming Monitor

Dan on our setup

Over the last three months, the Trak Racer HQ team has been lucky enough to trial the Samsung 43" Odyssey Neo G70NC UHD Gaming Monitor in a triple-screen setup—and we’ve got to say, it’s been an outstanding experience.

As sim racers ourselves, we tend to be highly critical of the tech we use. Every frame, every refresh rate, and every millisecond of delay can mean the difference between a podium finish or just missing out. That said, the G70NC has consistently impressed us.

First Impressions and Setup

Our first impressions of the Odyssey Neo G70NC were strong straight out of the box. Build quality is premium, the bezels are relatively thin for a screen of this size, and the curve (or in this case, lack of one—since it's a flat panel) feels well-suited to sim racing where vertical screen real estate matters. But while unboxing is one thing, three months of daily use is where real judgment happens—and even after extended testing, it's hard to find any major faults that take away from the experience.

One important caveat: before you rush out and buy three of them for your own rig, know that you’ll need a powerful graphics card to drive them effectively. A high-resolution, high-refresh triple-screen setup demands serious GPU performance—especially in demanding sims like iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione, or Le Mans Ultimate.

Our Test Bench Setup

Here’s how we’ve been running the system:

  • CPU: Intel Core i9-12900KS

  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti Super

  • Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming Z790-PLUS WIFI (LGA 1700 ATX)

  • RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000MHz

  • PSU: 850W+ Gold Rated

Even with this kind of setup, keeping GPU drivers updated has been essential to maintain stability and performance, particularly with NVIDIA Surround running all three monitors as a unified display.

Pros

✔ Great Response Time
Across all refresh rates we tested—60Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz, and 144Hz—the G70NC delivered excellent response times. While slight differences could be felt at lower FPS (which aren’t viable for sim racing anyway), performance at higher refresh rates was flawless. There was no input lag, frame stuttering, or sync issues across the triple setup.

✔ Vibrant Colours & Solid Contrast
Colour reproduction has been excellent, with great contrast and vibrancy across all lighting conditions. HDR performance is impressive, although we did notice that highlights could occasionally spike due to the backlighting—but this was minimal in sim racing scenarios.

✔ No Glare in Bright Rooms
Thanks to the monitor’s matte finish, we experienced no distracting reflections—even during daytime racing sessions. The anti-glare coating performs really well, especially in rooms with mixed or uncontrolled lighting.

Cons

✖ Mode Switching on Reset
This is a relatively minor issue, but worth mentioning—especially for those using multiple monitors. Like many smart monitors, the G70NC includes various picture and performance modes. However, we found that if a monitor was ever unplugged or reset, it would default back to Game Mode instead of staying in Standard Mode, which caused minor configuration issues when running NVIDIA Surround.

This meant we had to reconfigure the display group or manually align settings each time, which isn’t ideal if you frequently reposition your screens or power-cycle your setup. While it’s a short process, it becomes tedious when repeated regularly.

Hear from some of our team who have been using them in office over the past 3 months:

“As sim racing equipment, the Odyssey Neo G70NC UHD Gaming Monitors have been a fantastic addition to our setup. Not only does a 43” monitor give you great peripherals and there is no noticeable input lag. For LMU which is my game of choice, it’s been a great addition to any at work race.” - Dan

“After using these monitors for several months, I can confidently say that they rank among the best I’ve used. Their performance is particularly impressive when configured as a triple monitor setup for sim racing. The minimal bezel, high resolution, and high refresh rate contribute to an outstanding experience.” - Jamie

Final Thoughts

The Samsung Odyssey Neo G70NC has proven itself to be a high-performance display for sim racing enthusiasts who demand clarity, speed, and consistency. If you’ve got the hardware to support them, running three of these as a surround setup delivers serious immersion and visual quality. Just be prepared to manage the configuration quirks—and bring a GPU that can handle it.
